Since May, I've traveled to 22 cities and three countries with the 80s crew. I’m extremely grateful for the gigs (the Lost 80s & Freestyle bands are the best!) But more importantly, I’m grateful for the fans who show up to them. For now, I'm so excited to be home. It feels like it’s been forever since I've been in one place for more than a few precious days!
As the quiet of winter opens up some time and headspace to work on my Living A Vocal Life eCourse and Podcast, I’ll continue to keep you posted here. I started this journey last spring to help singers create their own vocal life. As I move into the rhythm of creating, I’ll also share my discoveries along the way.
This week's discovery? Joy.
The holidays are often equated with joy, but sometimes it's hard to find when we're overwhelmed and overdoing. If you could use some good medicine to balance out the craziness of the season, check out this episode of The TED Radio Hour called "Where Joy Hides." It helped me find some lightness of being recently. Watch and listen as four TED speakers share how they found joy in unexpected places, and why joy is crucial to a fulfilling life.
If the podcast doesn't take you to a more joyful place, try this video of Esperanza Spalding at the White House a few years ago as she performs the Stevie Wonder classic "Overjoyed." It will surely take you there.
One last thing, I’m interviewing the first vocalist for my new Living A Vocal Life podcast series this week — Moana Wolfgramm, the lead singer for the 80s band The Jets! Moana has become a good friend on tour this year. We've had some in-depth conversations about what it's like to live your life as a singer. She’s had an amazing journey and has some wonderful insights and stories you won’t want to miss. If you have any questions for her, please leave them in the comments section below and I’ll be sure to ask her. Thanks in advance for coming on this journey with me.
I'll let you know when the podcast is published. Until then, stay tuned!
